question about algae sheets

maybe i'm overthinking this but i gotta ask...when these sheets are used and some of it separates after getting saturated with water and ends up floating around in the tank, can this pollute the water? i have one tiny little cherub angelfish and i like to have this stuff available to him so i just tear very small pieces off and put them on a clip. by the time i get home, it's pretty much gone but i do see little pieces floating around.

okie dokie. now to find a clear, unobtrusive clip that doesn't look like a garish cartoon clownfish! LOL
