the skimmer is in your sump? or hanging on your tank?

if its hanging on the tank theres not much to be done... in your sump and you can add a bubble trap before your return pump to eliminate bubbles.

Skimers take a few days of running to break in... there will be changes in the way it runs over the first week as it breaks in. look at it and adjust frequently until it's output is consistent.
