I would just rinse it out with hot water, being sure to wipe off all dried up algae and calcium deposits.

Absolutely. No need for bleach. Not good for your hand nor your lung.

If mineral build up is too heavy, you may use pure vinegar to assist or simple just scrap them off.

Ok guys, so pieces of my aquarium are arriving at my doorstep almost daily. I think I have everything ordered so far besides the stock. I might have to wait a week or so to save up some cash before ordering my sand and rock but I have one more question.

I plan on ordering my dry rock and sand from macro rocks. I know the sand should be alright sitting out (not in water) until i get everything together to start my tank up (correct me if im wrong). Will dry rock be the same way? I figure it will be fine, but just wanted to make sure. So, will dry rock and sand be ok sitting out until I have the funds to purchase the live rock?

when i said pieces of my aquarium, I meant pieces of equipment for my aquarium. Haha when i re-read my post i pictured glass shards being delivered to my door
