Help!!! Can anybody identify this?

Just found this sticking out of the substrate on my 90 gal FOWLR? It resembles a piece of wood, but not really sure what it is....

Don't remember seeing it before this afternoon after a 10% water change. It's not there in a photo taken a couple days ago.

Bad pic can't tell. Why not just grab it out?

Actually just did exactly that and guess what...a piece of wood...LOL. Guessing it was in the substrate and got stirred up in the water change somehow. Was just really strange to find something sticking straight up with what looked like an eye. Guess as I gain experience I'll start figuring this all out.
