hi everyone im new and looking at getting a 55 gal tanks. just wondering what i need to get started. im not sure if i want to get a salt for fresh water...so how hard is a salt to take care of??? i really love all the saltwater fish. any and all advice is welcome (the more the better ). thanks guys!
saltwater isnt too hard if your educated about it.
honestly since its your first time i recommend starting out with fresh water.
cycle the tank, then figure out suitible tank mates. neon tetras are colorful yet fairly easy to care for.
I think you need to ask yourself what you really want out of an aquarium.
Do you want something just to tinker with, that is simple to care for and requires very little effort on your part? Do you want something that will be a beautiful center piece in your living area and are willing to put forth some effort, but don't have room in your life to become obsessed with a new project? Or do you want something that will become an obsession, change who you are as a person and how you approach your monthly budget for the rest of your life?
Let us know the answer to that question and then we can give you an honest opinion. Because honestly, there is nothing HARD about any aspect of this hobby. It is simply a matter of being willing to learn, which requires some degree of dedication and patience.
somewhere around the area of something to have a in my room, beautiful yet somewhat simple. rather stray away from the obsession...for now at least
