diamond goby possible issues

ok so today i got a free diamond goby or he might be a orange spotted goby i cant tell fully because he needed a bigger home.well after i got him i acclimated and what not,but i noticed that he eats live sand as part of his diet.i donot have live sand but play sand.will he be alright with just play sand and live rock? i have like maybe 15lbs for now of rock. i have noticed he already like 20 mins after i put him in started to burrow like he is supposed to.idk maybe im just worried.

They are bottom dwelling sand sifters, and eat the bugs out of the sand.

Don't know for sure. I haven't talked with anyone who has a sand sifter using play sand. If I had to gather a guess, I'd say no. Play sand has fine silicates and fine bits of glass in it. But, thats just guessing, don't go from what I know about that one.
