Dead rock reborn?

I'm looking at buying a tank that comes with some "live rock". Problem is the tank hasn't been set up for awhile now.. months at least. Is it possible to get a piece or 2 of fresh live rock and make the old rock live again over time?

i am learning as i go.. but i will give you a try.. my answer is yes.. matter of fact, that is how most ppl build there tank to start.. buy mostly cheaper (base) rocks.. then top off or add a little live rock, which will feed the (dead rock). so i so go for it
