I recently placed an order for some macro algae for my 20 gal. refugium. For a total of $178.93, this is what I received:
3- SMALL bags of various macro algae, and 1 TINY bag of wet sand which I was told contains copepods, and 2 shaving brush plants. Thats it!
One of the bags of Macro algae appeared dead. I called and complained and was told that on my next order they would send another bag!
In tiny print on their site, they list the following, in addition to the $39.99 overnight shipping charges, a $10.00 charge for orders under $100.00 (my order was $97.97), a $15.00 packaging charge, and a $15.97 fuel surcharge!! Suffice to say I won't be buying ANYTHING from them again! I don't think I can name the company on this forum openly, but if you are interested then PM me and I will let you know.
Thanks, and buyer beware!

wow, i'm sorry to hear about the overpriced site as well as the poor service. i ordered from reeftopia.com and they sent me 14 pepperment shrimp, when i ordered 12 and it's because there's usually a dieoff and 2 did die so it worked well, also has 200snails a yellowhead jawfish and something else, can't remember, but everything arrived alive and happy. Not to mention that when i ordered over $130 shipping was for free, and under $130 it was a $30 fee.

I've also ordered from liveaquaria.com and it was good too, and i've heard nothing but good from marinedepotlive.com.

Better luck next time and they aren't all bad.

Don't feel too bad. I'm an experienced internet shopper and yesterday ended up with a pile of melted moss from one of more recent "shopping" trips. Of course, that didn't stop me. I just ordered more moss only this time it's from Malaysia. I hope I'm not going to fall into the cateory "Some people never learn"...lol

I know! I'm a little apprehensive about it now as I e-mailed the seller right after I received notification of my receipt. Haven't heard a thing back. I'm hoping it's only due to the fact of the time-zone issue. I don't want to admit what I paid for it. I'm determined to grow a moss wall, one way or another. I'm lucky the boyfriend wasn't around when my balls of mush showed up. He already thinks I'm nuts and the last thing I need to hear is greif from him about my "impulsiveness".

LOL, i hear you. Those of us in this hobby see what we like and if the price is right... well lets just say i'm getting it. I'm learning so much more patience with my new wife(as of oct 4 08) and all the Budgeting that we've started. I'm not use to a budget, but i've learned the importance of online buying. It's cheap. You should ask him if he would rather you go to the lfs and get something from there...
