this might sound like a silly question,but... will a high wattage bulb melt my strip light? i have a 48'' strip light that holds two 24'' bulbs.a lady at my local fish store told me, i don`t have enought wattage to grow certain fresh water plants they sell.she said with the lighting i have now the plants will grow, but won`t change colors to the browns or purples i see in their store.
i have two 20 watt 24'' bulbs that say they are made for growing and maintaining fresh water plants.the bulbs say they have the spectrum of color the plants need.the lady informed me,i would need 3 watts of light per gallon of water.i have a 75 gallon tank.so,i would need 225 watts of light right? would this amount of power melt my strip light?
i do have a spare 48'' strip light.could i use this to add light to my tank, using different bulbs? any help would be great. thanks paul.
