White stuff growing on my java moss

Well the title explains it all. Instead of green leaves growing white leaves are growing. THeres not much, only a few are like that but does this mean anything. I know my tank is under lit (less than a watt per gallon, .75 watt per gallon that is) but the java moss is the only thing in the tank and i have a desk light shining in to it.

.75 wpg is low, but is enfu to grow java moss. You could lower the light giving you more light. I'm not sure about the white leaves, but a good plan for you is just remove them, and see what grow back in its place. A photo is worth 1000 words.

If the light is standard screw in light bulb then your java moss is not getting enough light for certain. Get a screw in compact flourescent if you can and use it. Walmart and other stores sell one that is acceptable for plant growth. Make sure the spectrum of the bulb is 6500K. It will say it right on the packaging. Incandescent bulbs, the ones with the filaments in them, are worthless for plant growth in the aquarium.
