other then a local pet store is there a reputable place online that I can purchase aquarium plants from? I'm finding it hard to find any of the plants I want. Even online.
After having a bad experience with aquariumplants.com I say try some place else. I like to help out hobbiest and you can find some of those guys in the classified section on this website. I have purchased from alot of them and so far so good from this site. Also, you could try aquaticjungles.com he is also a hobbiest and has a kewl youtube channel. Another place called plantedaquariumcentral.com I have never tried them but they are on my list. One of the most used sites is liveaquaria.com but it is a major supplier with high shipping rates. Some of my friends brag about these guys and their fish, I have no experience with them other than supplies.
Wanted to add that a guy in classifieds called DKRST has some really nice large Kliner Bar Swords and another guy called Knubbs on this site sells some nice plants esp his Crypts, Riccia and Peacock Moss and shrimp he also has other plants as well and both are very realiable and I have ordered some great stuff from both. The kliener Bar Swords are the bomb for the price.
+1 for Ebay. I get what I can from my LFS's, but the selections are very limited. Just recently made my first plant purchases off of ebay and couldn't be happier. Really cheap, good quantity, snail free and healthy. Just be sure to shop around and read reviews of the sellers first.
Often times you're best off buying from people selling on forums like this one (in the classifieds section). They plants are usually of good quality, and have most likely been grown submersed (unless otherwise specified), while most plants at fish stores have been grown emersed in nurseries. Emersed plants will take longer to adjust to your tank then submersed ones will. When buying online it is always important to check the feedback of the seller. Some forums will have a system that lists feedback for each user. You can also check the sale's thread for positive replies.
I like the classifieds section and aquabid... Still looking for an online supplier I like. (I liked sweetaquatics.com, but they vanished.)
