When to plant the baby Amazon?
I bought a sword with a baby plant sprout. It didn't have a root base but now it is getting one. Does the Jr. plant remove itself from the mama plant or do I need to snip and plant it? How do I know when the time is right? I don't want to stress it any more as the whole plant is going through the usual, newly planted plant look of turning brownish and looking a bit rough. I just added a root tab next to the sword this week so I am hoping that will help some. It has been getting the Flourish 2 times a week.
I purchased a Sword with a sprout aswell, It had 3 "nodes" with about 3 or 4 baby sword peddles... I let them grow to a fair size with the root about 3 inchs from the sprout, I snipped the stem down near the base of the sword and took all the baby sword sprouts on the stem n planted in the aquarium.. They are growin fine.. Little hard to anchor thats about it... So i would suggest letting them get some gurth befor you plant in substrate
I agree with Forest just make sure it has s decent amount of roots and you should be fine.

55 gallon, 44 gallon, one 20 gallon tank, three 10 gallon tanks, and a 2.5 gallon all with real plants.
I have MTS and there is no cure.
I always let the daughter plants of Amazon Sword grow up to about 2-2.5" when they have a few roots on them I 'bent' them off the stem sideways and plant them in the gravel. I had found if you let them grow a little on the mother plant they thrive better later on.

Yes, Inga. It sounds like you are ready to snip it off and replant the daughter. You can do this with all daughter plants, or leave them on once you have enough around your tank. I currently have 2 Swords with several daughter plants that I just leave attached to the mother plant to grow. Oh, and updated pictures would be nice, too
