i've got some of that in my tank, ... in my totally non-scientific method, ... i think it grows really fast, good rate for photosynthesis & O2 production :), ...

it's very very brittle, and a total pain in the flipping rear in my tank >:(

i've got pieces broken & constantly breaking off, ... some are just a few short strands, they quickly turn into fragile fans, ... and left for longer a mat floating on top, ... OK, i like it when it reaches this mat stage :)

still to brittle for my liking, getting rid of all of it would be worse than duckweed :(

Yeah, the strands are pretty much individual. I put that tiny strand I got in my net with my babies for kicks, it turned into a mat by itself. In my other tanks though, it has trouble because I don't have a place to corral it in those. x.x It gets to the filter a lot or blows around. I have some tall stem plants in another tank and the filter blew it all over those...it actually looks really good. xD Kinda like some jungle tree with moss hanging off it or something.

@PaperclipGirl: Yes. I believe there are a few types, but if yours looks like mine it's crystalwort. If you have too much movement up top, it wont hold still or mat, not unless it has some hold to do so.
