Water lettuce growth

Hi,

I need to get some floating plants for my betta's and gourami's and I was wondering if water lettuce would grow if I kept the lid on the top of my aquarium? o
Or will it cause the water lettuce to rot?

Can you share your experiences?
Thanks

I grow it in mine and the lid is always on. I can't grow it in my larger tank, however, because the filter output is too strong. It seems to need some current but not too much.

-Kristen's tanks:

14g Tall:
Planted, eco-complete, Red Cherry Shrimp

16g Aqueon Bowfront:
Planted, eco-complete, 8 Ember tetras, 7 Green neon tetras, 6 Harlequin Rasboras

36 Aqueon Bowfront: Planted, sand, 10 Julii cories, 8 Zebra Danios
7 Cherry Barbs, Asst snails & Ghost shrimp

Thanks for your advice, my current isnt too strong at the moment as I have bettas and they find it difficult to swim with a high flow, but there still is movement.

i had a large amount of this in my tank before the water level got too low and it caused them to be pushed under. this plant doesnt seem to like getting its leafs wet. it all pretty much died off and came back. i grow mine in a 55 gallon lidless tank. it did do fine when i had lids on it as well. wonderful plants. they grow well and the dangling roots look awesome! this is about 2-3 weeks of growth after it started to die.
