Using Flourish Excel

Hi All-

I just bought a bottle of Flourish Excel, thinking it was a general fert for my plants. After reading through some prior posts I see it mentioned being used as an algae *killer*, not as a general fert. At the moment I have no algae. Should I not use this product? Also, this product will kill fish if not used properly?? Seems so....

Will someone enlighten me??

Thanks! kym

You can still use it as a carbon dioxide source. Only if you overdose it in large amounts it'll kill your fish. See this thread for info on Flourish Excel: http://www.seachem.com/support/forum...read.php?t=583

Thanks for the quick response and the thread. I appreciate it.
I thought I had made a mistake buying *Flourish Excel* versus just *Flourish*

Gracias!

I used it for a while and loved it. I dosed it in the recommended doses and it kept algae at bay and my plants grew much better. When I had a problem with algae I would dose it directly on the algae and it killed any and all kinds within a couple days where I dosed it on the algae. Other than that it owuld slowly "kill" the other algae and I had a pretty prisitne tank short of green spot algae on occassion.

Also, I don't recommend using mroe than the dose on the label right away. I have heard of entire tanks being wiped out with as little a double dose. Test the waters and slowly increase if you need to in order to treat algae outbreaks.

It also works really well as an algae dip but I don't remember the time nor the dilution for doing it. It is on here somewhere and if I find it I will link to it.
