Types of root plants

I'm looking at restarting my tank from square one. And I wanted to know what plants are root plants. I searched and searched but ended up with nothing. I already ordered my floramax and bulb necessary for the tank. If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Root plants are pretty much any plant that you plant in the gravel... There's really too many to name, but swordplants (echinodorus sp) and crypts (cryptocyrne sp.) are the most common ones.

I also like vallisneria, dwarf sag, dwarf lilies, crinum sp., dwarf hairgrass, and aponogetons... all are rooted.

In our plant profiles [second tab from the left in the blue bar across the top, headed Tropical Fish Profiles] we divide the plants into 4 categories, one of which is substrate-rooted. Not all substrate-rooted plants are listed obviously, but many of the more common ones are.

Some other plants do use the substrate to root, such as the stem plants (another category), and some of these produce mainly substrate roots, but most also produce roots along the stems in the water column.
