Today I decided to re-aquascape my tank. I did this for 2 reasons.
1.) I wanted all types of plants to be near each other
2.) I've been having problems with plants that should grow quickly were dieing quickly.
The cause is not enough not and probably improper placement. On Tuesday March 18th I changed my lid to an all glass lid. I'd had a glass lid but it was not clear. It looked like privacy glass. It was not clear. Since changing the lid I saw some improvements.
My problem really was that the anacharis was not growing but melting from the bottom up and in the middle of the stems. Very frustrating. I had been doing everything right. Lights on for 12 hours a day on a timer. Dosing with Brightwell Aquatics FlourinMulti and FlourinAxis. Started with the initial 5ml/50 gallons dose and I put 6 drops of each in daily. I also use Seachem Flourish Tabs and have 6 throughout the substrate of Dark Flourite.
The first picture is a before shot.
The second is after.
This one is left showing some trimming from Hygrophila, Red and/or Bronze Wendtii, a small Ludwiga and another that I forget but is like a Bamboo.
Then the middle showing Hygrophila, Amazon Swords (?), Ozelot Sword (?) and one I don't know.
Now we have the right showing Rotalas of varying sizes, Pennywort and some Anacharis. Also another that I don't know.
The last one is showing some bigger Anacharis and some very tiny ones which I've planted here because I wanted nothing to get in the way of light and I spaced them out.
On a side note...does anyone have the trouble of vertical picture being posted horizontally? Mine did this and I found that if I change orientation of original file then save then change back to original orientation it helps. Just a pain in the butt.
Oh well. Hopefully this new aquascaping will help these plants start to grow better for me. Any input is welcome.
