Anyone know where I can find peacock, singapore, taiwan or other mosses?
I've already got java moss and am looking for other variations of moss.
I've seen some of these listed in the classifieds on other forums but they are looking for trades and I've nothing to trade for.
The standard sites I visit where you can just outright purchase do not carry these types, just the java. None of my LFS have any thing other than java. Anyone have any ideas for me???? Thanks- kym

Maeve- That's my problem! Nothing to trade :-( (at least not yet...) and riccia was a moss I was looking for.
I looked at Aquabid. They have everything I need and and more.
I was trying to avoid signing up for yet another account.
I'll have to join both aquabid and paypal. More passwords to have to remember and more money I'll be tempted (and will) spend!

Yes, it was 4am :| The possums that like to ransack my garden decided to ramsack each other. I don't know anyone who can sleep through fighting possums. It's unreal how loud they are. Since I was up I decided to grab a flashlight and check out my fish who were sleeping (even the nocturnal ones!) then I got on line and went to my favorite spot, FF! Can you say "addiction"?? Of course, I never got to bed after that. I'm gonna be one tired puppy at work today.

I'd haven't read anything negative about aquabid here on our forum but perhaps I didn't look hard enough. I really want these mosses so I think I'll use aquabid and take my chances. When I do my ebay purchases I rely on a seller's rating so I'll do the same on aquabid. I got screwed one time on ebay but that's only one out of about 100 purchases. Unfortunately the one time I did get screwed on ebay it was for 200 bucks :-(.

Thanks for the heads up and I'll let you know how it goes. Off to drag myself to work...

i think it was for fish actually .. the person paid for the fish, and never recieved them or answered any emails.

ive scoped out the site in the past myself and it looks good but never purchased anything, i thought id just give a heads up on what ive heard, god knows if its true or not (as it was on another forum)

Ah, yes well I was rather shocked at hearing that. As I too have checked out the site and it seems that a lot of people rely on it and it looks like a decent site. Thanks for the heads up onefish, much appreciated. I will have to think twice before ever using aquabid now. Although it could have been a shipping mistake theres no excuse for the site not replying to the persons e-mails.

I've ordered a lot of things from Aquabid (I have an internet shopping addiction!!) and have always been pleasantly surprised with how great the transactions have been. It's pretty standard procedure to throw in free stuff :). However, there aren't the same protections in place that there are in some other online stores, it is based on trust and reputation. I always read comments beforehand and buy from well established vendors. I also always use my credit card via paypal, which means I have fraud protection if I pay for something that never arrives. Like I said, I've never had an issue, but it's always good to be extra cautious online.

One last note, I'm not a huge fan of aquatic magic (a big plant vendor there). They're based overseas and the plants take a looong time to get to you, and will be very tiny to save on shipping. I still got what I paid for, but it wasn't as awesome an experience as most of the other vendors.

Also, if you do make a transaction, it's always a great idea to record it in the service reviews section, so people on our site know how it went.

I have that same addiction! I didn't know you could use your credit card though paypal. That's dangerous information for someone like me.

I'll place my order today and post the results in the service reviews. I didn't even know about the services review section....

I don't know of anyone having problems on Aquabid but as OkieMavis said, I always check reputations before buying anything. The same goes for E-bay when it's me on this end. I also get most of my supplies and some fish on line and find that the typical vendor is trying very hard to keep their good reputation. What that means is you buy 6 of something and 7 arrive or there is a free sample of a related product or some other measure that makes it a memorably good transaction.
The worst case that I can remember was when I bought something, paid for it and never heard from the seller again. About the time that I started to worry about it, the package arrived at my door. The negative in this for me was that I was not used to silence after the sale since most vendors make darned sure that you know your product is on the way and also make sure that you know the moment it gets to the shipper.
In a recent transaction, I asked a vendor if they had a product to recommend that I did not see in their on line catalog. When I didn't hear from them right away, I ordered a similar product from their catalog. I got a phone call a few hours later asking if I really had wanted to order the product that I had been asking about or if I wanted the specific item from the catalog. That kind of interaction is one reason I keep going back to a site. These guys were determined to get me exactly the product that I wanted.

Bear in mind when doing online transactions, mail boxes can be full, some isp's block other isp's, spam filters and blockers may be losing e-mails. It might take an e-mail or two to figure out what the obstruction is, its quite possible a seller is responding to your messages and something like a spam fiter is losing their reply.

At some times of the year, busy seasons might be so hectic, the correspondence is flying in to seller faster than replies, or parcels can be done... general or vague enquiries might not be so easy to reply to at very busy times of year

Regards, andy
