10,000k bulbs tend to be hotter and could "melt" some of the plants. I am not 100% sure why, but alot of people that I know that do planted aquascaping all go for the 6700k instead of the 10,000k they say its too strong. You arent giving up the watts at all. I have a 10,000k and a daytime light in mine, but I am switching over to 2 6700 this weekend. :) Someone that knows way mroe about lighting then I do should hopefully respond and help out more then I can. I am still learning my light system.
