Thinking of ordering plants online

Things in my tank have been going very slowly, I've had it for a year almost and it's still needs work. Mostly because I can't always get to store when I want and I recently found out that my water is lacking minerals. At this point I think that ordering from a site would be easier and cost less. I just want to see what everybody has to say about ordering online, though most people say they have a great experience. Also what sites do you guys trust and order from? I've looked at extraplant.com, azgardens.com, and aquariumplants.com.

I've checked time to time, but for me ordering from a site would best. I want to all things at once, not buy this from her and that from him.

I was just on aquabid and saw some nice plants with good prices to match. Has anyone ordered plants from there? Any sellers you recommend? I'm unsure about bidding although.

I've always been skeptical about it too, can you read reviews on the site?
Let us know what site you choose, I want to get a very planted tank and ordering online will probably be cheapest.

Ye I just ordered plants from "thatpetplace.com" since I wanted a fish from there anyway I figured why not. Then they had so many plants I liked that I ended up buying about 15 diffrent kinds for my 75 gal. I expect them to be here soon so I will report in after I set them in my tank.

My mom doesn't even remotely like the idea of giving random people on the internet her credit card. No getting plants online. I'll mention the disposable credit card to her and see what happens.

I'm still working my getting my plants, hopefully I'll be able to order some within two weeks. I did get distracted today, although. My family and I went shopping after eating. The plaza has a petco and I decided to stop in. Of course once entering the fish section the first thing I saw was the bettas. I stopped to look and let out a loud gasp, my step sister who was with me said ,"Whats wrong?" I said this betta!! I was a beautiful neonish blue dragon delta tail with white on the the end of his fins. His water was dirty, but I'm sad to say not the dirtyish I've seen. I could let such a beautiful betta stay there in that state. The only problem was that I didn't have any money. :( While I continued my walk around I came upon a VERY beautiful multi-color halfmoon double tail, the best looking and healthiest I've ever seen in petco. Fins perfect, no bent spine, and bright colors. I was able to buy the delta thanks to my grandma, but I hid the other to come back for later. I also helped this couple and a lady while I was there, they thanked me and said I should work there! That made me feel soooo good. :D

Shipping

I've found some very nice deals on aquabid, but I'm sure about going through with it although, because shipping cost so much. Most sellers will combined orders, but that still might kill me. Maybe I'll try to have my lfs order a few things for me. Since it's summer I think I'll have a better chance of getting there.

I was actually looking at this thread last night as I try to decide where to order my plants online. I don't have any LFS that are nice enough within reasonable driving distance. I think I'm going to go with AquariumPlants.com as they have the most plant species that I want. I did find a few on Aquabid, but the shipping thing is bothering me, too. I'm going to have to pay shipping on 7 individual plants instead of for one big order. That is the main thing driving me towards AquariumPlants.com .

I agree, and also. . . the thing to remember when buying plants is that you really have NO idea where they've come from - and this usually holds true for IRL fish shops, too. So, aside from shipping costs, I think it's better to go with ONE shop that has been recommended - instead of getting plants from here, there, and everywhere. Aquabid is a wonderful place, and it's a great way to find some things that you couldn't get otherwise, but it's always good to keep in mind that these plants are coming from people's personal fish tanks (or ponds), and you don't know ANYTHING about them. Not that you know anything more about a shop like AquariumPlants.com, but they ARE more of a legit business, so at the very least they have their name to keep clean, and have been recommended by many people who have had personal experience.

Please keep in mind that QTing plants just as you would a new fish is always a good idea if you aren't 100% sure of the tank it was raised in :) Good luck!

This is true! Living is good - most plant shops do offer the option of a freezer pack, also. Tends to be a bit less expensive than next-day-shipping. Also many online shops have a live arrival guarantee - though in some cases this IS hinged on the purchase of next-day-shipping . . .

HOPEFULLY, it doesn't matter! Hopefully you'll be able to get everything your little heart desires through your LFS - that will make things much easier. Plus you can actually LOOK at the exact plants you'll be purchasing before they get there.

I can't wait to see your tank when you get your new goodies in - are these for your 55, or the 75?

Just a quick note as well, some sites DO NOT accept the disposable credit cards as they cannot be verified to an address for shipping. I dont know if any of those sites accept them or not. Might be worth checking or seeing if the order does work.
