On a completely unrelated note, I've lost the two original snails but have seen 6 baby Ramshorn snails on various locations in the tank. I don't know how many the tank can handle but six seems Ok for now - though I'm sure there are more on the horizon.
I just never worry about snails. if they find food they will multiply, and that makes me happy as it means they are dealing with biological issues I can't. As long as it is not overfeeding of course. I feed extremely sparingly, and only once a day. But the hundreds of Malaysian snails in my tanks means they are obviously eating other stuff like algae, decomposing plant matter, etc., that would otherwise pollute. I like my snails.
