Hello, I am planning on setting up a 29 gallon heavily planted aquarium and had a question on what fish to put in it. I was planning on:
A pair of German Blue Rams
12 Rummy nose tetras
8 Harlequin Rasboras
I would like to know if this is a suitable setup and if I have any extra stocking room, what else to put. Any help is greatly appreciated.
IMO you are just about maxed out. While a 29 gallon is about 50% larger than a 20 long, you have the same footprint. The Harlequin Rasboras may not be compatible with the higher temperatures the Rams require. You could look into Cardinal Tetras, I think that would be a better fit.
Marble Hatchets will school really close to the top. It's best to have some floating plants up there as cover for them. Make sure you have a lid, they are made to jump.
Black Phantoms stay mid to top. They are a little nippy but all the damage seems to be confined to the group.
Rummys are the best schoolers and spend more time near the bottom than you'd expect.
