Splitting a Marimo Algae Ball

I currently have a tennis ball sized marimo in my 5 Gallon tank. I like it in there, but i would also like one in my 20gal and if i end up getting the 30 gal i would like some in there too. i heard that if a marimo is large enough it can be split into several small marimo. does anyone know how to do this? any advice would be appreciated :)

I pulled mine apart and now I have two not very attractive halves...one mostly flat...I think your supposed to use a small rubber band to hold them together until they grow enough to hold themselves. One of these days, I'll get around to trying.

you could probably tie some string tightly around it and tighten it slightly each day to eventualy split it but thats just my 2 cents

its a half a inch of water and you think your gunna drown
