I was using some API root tabs and got another pkg of root tabs, then realized they are Flourish tabs. I am currently using about a cap and 1/2 a week of flourish in my tank, do I need to use both the tabs and liquid or am I double up? I usually only use a tab near plants that don't seem to be doing very well.

Also box on tabs says one tab for every 4-6 in radius. And I have about 4 plants that are in a 6" radius. Should I just put tab in center of all them, does that work well?

Thanks Karl

I dose Excel daily, Flourish weekly, and once a month insert a Flourish tab at the base of my swords, break up a few tabs in smaller pieces and place them around the smaller plants. I'd think that using your Flourish tabs would be just fine. If the plants you have are swords I'd put an entire tab directly underneath them. Swords are heavy root feeders.

Root tabs are typically used for an iron supplement while Flourish is a micro/macro?? nutrient. They are for different plant requirements. I think you could put one in the center or place the tab in a location where two plants could share one. That's what I do. If the swords take off you'll soon find out that 4 plants in a 6" radious may be too close. I like having those kind of problems.

I think it would depend on what kind of substrate you have in your tank. If you have plain gravel or sand then I would use the tabs. I have flourite as a substrate so I do not use root tabs. Just Flourish Excel. The plants should get trace elements from your WC.
