score!

well I was just doing my budget and bemoaning the fact that I can't afford my 90-gallon dream tank, so I went out for a walk ... and I found a free tank that someone was throwing away on the curb. happy! I think it is a 15 gallon tall. Not very big at all but much better than my 7 gallon and it will keep me busy with aquascaping for a while. :) i'm excited!!
I want to get some branchy driftwood in there and attach my baby tears to it to look like leaves. this would be pretty!! especially in the afternoon when it gets sunlight.
anyway right now I am checking the new tank to see if it has any leaks...:)

Nice. You can always place some pennywort and Java moss there as well.

What a great find! If you find there aren't any leaks in it, any idea what you want to put in it fish wise?

well I had it sitting in the shower full of water for 2 days with no leaks! :) yay. I moved my guppies to it ... i have 1 fancy male adult, 2 feeder guppy female adults and a couple of babies at the moment. I had about 30 babies last week but I guess most of them got eaten! they seem pretty happy in the new tank ... I just moved the whole tank contents over yesterday ... guppies, plants, shrimp, and substrate.

Bonsai!

Here is how my new tank looks so far. I am trying to make a little bonsai garden in there. :)

You can see java moss on the tree, baby tears at the base of the tree, and crypt lutea and red melon sword over on the other side. I like how it looks so far but I want to grow some moss on the gravel too (if that's possible) and keep it trimmed to look like grass.

My yellow guppy Hedwig and his lady friends are barely visible in there too if you look hard enough. :) I got a better heater for this tank ... one that actually acts like a thermostat instead of just having a temperature dial for the look of it ... Hedwig seems to love that ... he is constantly trying to mate, whereas before I guess the constant fluctuating temperatures seemed to make him feel less "in the mood"!!

I have some green fuzz algae growing on some of my plants, probably because of the direct sunlight from the window ... but there are worse-looking kinds of algae so I'm not too concerned about that yet. :) If you have any tips for how to help the plants outcompete algae let me know. I don't have any CO2 system for this tank but I started adding flourish excel the other day so maybe that will help a little.

Let me know what you think!
