I have a 17 watt rapid start aquarium bulb that came with my kit, anyways I am sure it probably wont do but if I buy a single 24w T-8 to replace it what corals and/or plant will I be limited to? Will I be fine with anemone and pulsing xenia etc.... This is a "family 30 gallon salt tank" I am not going to be upgrading to anything such as the sun or high intensity discharge type bulbs....thanks in advanced

as you can see I am cycling right now so it will be a little bit before needed....

Not sure how to help you but I think your question would fit better in the Saltwater forum, not the Freshwater Plants one. Maybe try asking in the "Coral, Invertebrates, and Reef Creatures" of the Saltwater section. Good luck!

I'm not sure what kind of corals you will be able to keep there but I know one thing... salwater coral riff tanks often require a lot of light and what really helps is intencity of light, and intencity is measured by how many watts you have... so no... your 17 will not do, nor would the 25, I think that even 50 watts will not do. For 30 gallon coral/riff tank u'll need at least 65 and up watts. 65 being the bare minimum.
