I recently bought a Glo T5 HO lighting fixture for my 28g freshwater. I bought it locally, but when I looked it up online (after bringing it home), I noticed that you could buy it in either a single or double bulb unit. I'm not sure if they had the double lbulb light fixture at the pet store, but the price difference between the two online what only about $12. Is there really much of a difference between the two? I'm wondering if I should return the one I bought and buy the one with 2 bulbs.
Obviously, you would have twice the available light. It all depends upon what your tank, its inhabitants, and any live plants you may have require. More is not always better.
I'm doing live plants, so medium/high light would be best. The fixture is only 24watt, but it's HO. I don't know if what fish I'm keeping matters for lighting, but right now I have 4 corys, platys, and a betta. However, the betta and platys will probably move out, and I replace them with an angel and some cards. I only have 15 days to return it, so I need to decide what I want to do soon.
