Talking Q1: Substrate advice

I have looked into substrate and have found the following two that seem reasonable. Has anybody used either and what are their thoughts.

Tetra plant complete substrate 5.8kg 13

ADA Aqua Soil 9Lites 35

Both are enough to put a 2-3 cm layer on bottom of my tank.

The only difference I see is that the aqua soil give an initial ammonia spike to help the fishless cycle.

hello friend!

I think if you would convert your units into pounds , inches, and dollars it would help us on this side of the pond(atlantic ocean). I have no trouble doing the conversions mentally but others maybe . Sorry I don't know anything about either product but the one that causes ammonia spike sounds really interesting. Please post when you decide what is best, I'll be interested to see what you choose. Thanks

I have never heard of the first one but lots of ppl use ADA aquasoil in planted tanks. I personally have no experience with it. It does cause an ammonia spike as you states which will help a fish less cycle but also is plant food.

I use 1" canadian sphaghnum peat moss. 1" play sand, and 1" of a baked red clay called pro choice select here in the US. (you probably could substitue and read baked clay or aquarium gravel for that)
