Thank you very much, you have given me a good first impression of this forum and I will definitely be using it again!
As of the lighting problems, I shall reduce time on and purchase some floating plants like water sprite.

Can you remove one bulb and have the fixture still work? That might be a decent fix if you want to have a longer photo period. I have 14 - 15 hours and am spoiled with such a long "on display" time so I would hate to have to reduce it to under 9 hours myself.

Yes I will try that idea! Which bulb do you suggest I remove. I have one 'day lite' and one 'warm lite'?

I'm not entirely sure which would be better, I suspect the daylight is the best to leave in though, the warm light is more a people thing. If the fixture doesn't work with one bulb, the difference is moot.
