I have what I think is one of these. Originally it was fine, grew enormous, two flower spikes with daughter plants. In fact, if you look at my photos, under "former 90g", the fourth photo is a close-up and this plant is centre in that photo. Then I had reason to use Maracyn on the tank and this plant and all the pygmy chain swords melted; the E. bleheri showed no effects outwardly. The chain swords came back, this red leaf plant sprouted new leaves but small ones; I still have it in the 115g but it is not doing well. One issue now is probably light, red leaf plants need brighter light, and I am not fussing over it since I am not prepared to sacrifice my fish's wellbeing for brighter light for one plant.

I did see it needed a stronger light. I might swap it out for just a regular amazon sword. I was looking for something "reddish" and added a red crypt to each front corner. How do you think that set up is looking so far? I posted it above.

Consider moving the RC from the right corner to a spot inside; identical plants that are so distinctive (in this case, the reddish-brown leaves) at the front corners will be noticeable, and create the illusion of a smaller tank in a frame.

You may not intend to have four new pygmy chain swords at the front, as only one plant will do; you will within weeks have all you can manage from that one plant. But if your intention is to indicate four plants in time, that's fine; i.e., only get one to start. I would let them spread via runners to cross the tank not directly in front but mid-way, it will tie the aquascape together almost un-noticeably. It's a remarkable plant for doing that.

Keep the RC on the left in the corner and just move the right one inside somewhere? The chain swords will just be one but I will let it run out some. How's this? Recommend anything different for the right corner?

I can totally only back this up; I had bought ONE in Nov to try in the new set up and by now there's wayyy past 20 daughter plants there (and some already taken out into other tanks) that stuff grows VERY quick; quicker then even Pennywort in my exp.

It was only intended to be one. That was jus tshowing it spread. I supposed I should have used a rectable rather than circles...lol. Natalie, do you have any suggestions on plants and plant placement? I do like pennywort. Maybe I can get ONE of those as well.

I think when the pygmy chain sword spreads in front of the cave it will be sufficient, though I don't know the size of the cave but you probably don't want it hidden by a very thick plant.

On the crypts, I was earlier thinkg of having them apart because of the colour contrast, but another thought is to group them, but not at the outside as again that is obvious, maybe sort of 1/3 the way in from whichever side, the two crypts framing the wood? Those sorts of scenes do look natural, because in nature similar plants frequently grow around objects.

You mean like one crypt at each on of the wood?

How many of each plant are you wanting to get?

Pers I like the Vallis all the way in the back and anything else in front of it, so you have the tall grassy like "wall" once its all grown in.
The crypts I like grouping, spread apart a lil so they have room to grow but kinda group close together so it makes this shrub like area.

Maybe you could add something like Klein Bar Sword for the front too? Other Sword like plants that I find very pretty once established is the E. Rubin nice coloration's and get nice & bushy.
