Plant ideas for a "desert theme"

Hey all,
I'm considering transforming my spare 5.5 gallon into a shrimp tank.

I want to make it desert theme (I already have my idea).
However, I'm looking for some plants that may be that style.

For example, I already have rotala nanjenshan (which somewhat mimics the cholla cactus). I'm also going to use blyxa japonica. (to simulate a small bush)

Anyone else have some ideas that might fit with a desert-theme?

Thanks!

Last time I was in the desert back home...I seen tumble weeds, that was about it, donno what to use to replicate that

BUT I do LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of shrimp farm!!! I have a few here right now, lemme post you UP TO DATE pictures tomorrow (but here some few weeks old below), cause the one's on my aquarium profile here aren't up to date.

What is a heck of fun thou is to use regular window screen and tie java moss to it and have it grow...shrimp will 'mow' it like a cow out on the pasture looking :-D

I just picked flat big rocks that were no more then 0.5-1" thick and stacked them along the back of the tank :)
