Plant ID?

My LFS gave this to me today, they had no information about it whatsoever. It came labeled as pogostemon helferi, which is clearly wrong. I'm hoping it is fully aquatic, but I suspect it's not. It came potted, but doesn't seem to have a very developed root system. Does anyone know what it is?

I haven't been able to find it exactly yet but it looks like it has been grown at l;east partially emersed. The sztems are much thicker and grainier and the leves look much shinier than they would if they were grown submerged. It can be a long transition period before you see the true growth if it is an emersed growth.

Will keep looking.

Thanks a bunch! I could have sworn I'd seen it somewhere, but I'm starting to think I may have just seen it in the woods or something. I appreciate the help :)

A couple people on some other forums said they thought it was rotala, but I'm not convinced. I got some nice new growth on the tips, it was really pretty, but all of the original parts just turned brown and died. Really icky in my water. So I ended up throwing it out, rather than trying to salvage the living part and hoping it wouldn't die too. Bummer though, it was so pretty!

You should have kept the new growth, it would have or should have grown. That way we could have ideintified it. That tells me it was almost certainly emersed.

Yeah, I kinda wished I had, I was just so annoyed with it. Perhaps I'll talk the LFS into giving me another one, they're just taking up space in a tank there as none of them have sold.
