I thought it was that too, but it hasn't grown much (just got a bit greener and better looking edges) and I thought they were fast growers so I forgot about that. How can I make it grow faster and tying it to a rock is okay, right?

I'll tie it to a rock my friend gave me. Not that she give me rocks all the time (all that in was is the cavity her brain is supposed to be in) she just live by a river.

Agree on Java Fern. This is a slow growing plant, check the profile.

One thing I noticed about java fern, it took about 2 months for it to acclimitize to the new environment - i basically saw no real growth for the first 2 months, then it decided finally to let the older leaves start fading away and focus attention on growing new leaves and plantlets. I read an article by Takashi Amano that echoes this, as he recommends getting rid of as many old leaves as possible on any java fern you're introducing to a new tank, and patiently wait for new growth, which will be adapted to the new environment, to start emerging.
