Can anyone tell me anything about pellia moss (Monosoleum Tenerum )other than what I read on the web? I gave up trying to find peacock, taiwan or christmas tree moss so I purchased pellia moss on line @ aquabid. I want to build a moss wall. Will this stuff fit the bill??

Well, the moss arrived today. I ordered four portions and received four portions of what looks like overly wilted lettuce. :-( It's four brown blobs with only very small parts of green poking through it. For now I just threw it in my small tank as I didn't want it "messing" up my large tank as it's "shedding". Any ideas on what I can do to attempt to "revive" it??

It was such a brown mushy mess I removed the entire mass of it from the tank and pitched it. It had totally fallen apart and the water was completely littered. Nothing about it looked like moss...more like loose brown anacharis leaves. It took me about two hours to net all the gunk out of the tank. What a mess and what a waste of $45.

I've got some Christmas moss coming from Malaysia. Hopefully, when (if?) it arrives I'll have better luck.

Thanks for the response!

I put what little I could salvage in a glass in the window with some micro ferts, as fish_4_ all suggested. It's green, but it's just tiny little pieces. We'll see what, if anything, happens with it.
A kick in the nuts sounds just about right!

Funny you should ask! I was looking in the glass at the moss this morning. All the pieces had died and turned brown save one. It's the size of a grain of rice but it's actually starting to have some new side growth.
I'm going to continue to baby this one little piece.
Considering the slow growth rate of this particular moss I may be staring at this glass in the window for a very long time to come.
I should take a pic and post just so you could get a good laugh!

Hey Beweeb! Thanks for the info. I actually ordered from this company the day I posted this thread. Since I looked high & low and they were the only place that offered it I took the chance and went ahead with an order. The Malaysian shipping point was a huge concern. I was thrilled when I received portions that were of the highest quality. My only regret was not placing a larger order. I seriously underestimated what a 2" x 3" portion looked like. What a typical mistake by me! I'm about forty portions shy of what I need to do the moss wall that I want. Had I known this was going to be the expense I think I would have reconsidered making it to begin with. Oh well, now that I've started I've got to keep going. I hope it turns out....

What items did you purchase from this company??

I'm new to all the finer aspects of fertilizing a planted aquarium but this is my understanding:

Macro Nutrients include Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorus, Magnesium, Sulfur, Calcium, Carbon, Oxygen, and Hydrogen.
Micro Nutrients include Iron, Manganese, Chlorine, Zinc, Boron, Nickel, Copper, and Molybdenum.

I'm using API pro series root tabs, Flourish, Flourish Excel, and Kent Pro Plant.

For some basic info take a look here:

Jake’s Planted Aquarium Pages | Nutrients and Fertilizers

Also, I rely heavily on fish_4_all for my plant advice. He's been tremendous in helping me.
The ferts I'm now using are pricey and fish_4_all has given me a link for a place to purchase dry ferts that you mix yourself. Much cheaper! As soon as my current supplies dwindle I'll go the dry fert route.
