Oddity with moss

I've got some java moss (I think, could be badly informed), and it's got these odd growths. I'm just wondering what it is. Makes me think of seed pods, or nodes. The first time I saw it I thought baby trumpets were attacking.

I'm just curious.

I'm not sure, but I thought it was normal! My Java moss did this recently, too - It seemed to happen as it finished it's adjustment to it's new tank, rooted into the spot where I put it, and started growing. . . maybe someone else can clarify exactly what this plant is thinking, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to do that!

If you are referring to the thin "stems" with the oval sack on the end, those are called sporophyte and contain the spores which is the method of reproduction of mosses.

We had a thread a few months back with photos of coloured sporophytes, pink I think they were. Mine are always dark green/blackish. I've forgotten the specifics, but light and nutrients I believe have something to do with these.

Something we all need to remember: The fish you've acquired was quite happy not being owned by you, minding its own business. If you’re going to take it under your wing then you’re responsible for it. Every aspect of its life is under your control, from water quality and temperature to swimming space. [Nathan Hill in PFK]

Oh good, that's just all I was wondering about. Glad to know it's normal.
