Not sure what the new plant is and it's dying

Does anyone know what the really large plant is? I got it from Petsmart and it was only $2.99 so what did I have to loose but now that it's been in the tank for a few days it's really not doing well. I just planted it in the substrate 2 days ago but it's planted in flourite and I added Flourish Excel when I planted everything to give it a boost. Not enough light maybe? Did I let it float too long, 2 or 3 days, before planting?

It looks like a Radican sword, http://www.plantgeek.net/plantguide_viewer.php?id=91
Take a look and see if you can confirm it, the pictures aren't exact from what I saw.

I would say by the look of the leaves that is is suffering from nutrient deficiency, probably from transit to the store and improper care for a few days at the store. My experience with swords is that they are extremely resilient. As long as the bulb stays in tact you can pretty much bring them back from nothing. I actually would cut mine down to nothing and it would explode with growth coming back bigger than before.

Give it some time, it only needs medium light so lighting should be fine from the looks of the tank. How many watts do you have and what type, if you know. Also, root tabs are priceless for swords, I have never used anything but the cheap ones and they worked great.

So just treat it like I would my other swords and cut down what's damamged and let it grow. Would I still need root tabs with flourite in the tank?
