unfortunately i am having bad luck with the glass diffusers. I broke the last one and my newest one came broken. I am going to use an airstone, or see if i can rig up a way for it to go into the filter's intake.

yea i think its easier for my to get an airstone, i dont know where i can get a glass diffuser from. what about monitering co2 levels, ive read that you there is a way to read them, do you have any good websites or info about that? sorry for going a little off topic, just thought you would have some info

I ordered some glass diffusers off ebay that were supposed to work with DIY systems, but there wasn't enough pressure for the co2 to come out. Airstones are pretty much a waste of co2 as the bubbles are too big to really diffuse effectively into the water. I ended up just sticking the output tube of my co2 into the uptake of my filter. Works perfectly, although I have a canister filter, not sure how it would work with a HOB.

As for monitoring, you can pretty accurately calculate the co2 levels in your tank if you know the ph and kh. Here's a link to a site with a calculator for that equation:

Ohh.. Please tell how you hooked the co2 to the canister filter. I am going to have a canister filter on my new planted tank and am looking to maybe do DIY co2 in the future. Do tell :) .
