Lighting for 2.5 g

I need help figuring out a cheap lighting solution for a future planted betta tank. Prefer something that doesn't need a lid.

I don't know of a certain light that would work. Maybe others who have had tank this size can/will answer. Though I think if it was me I would try some like a desk lamp with a 10w florescent bulb that was around 6500k.

That's too bright ... that's 75% of the light that I have on my 10 gallon, and I still have to do under 8 hours of light to avoid an algae farm.

The only way you could use that without causing problems is if the light is located well above the tank to allow the light to disperse over a wider area.

Unfortunately that is the only bulb around me with the correct kelvins, had to buy it from Walgreens. It's going to be in a desk lamp so I can adjust it
