JoAnn if you're DIY'er like us you may like this one (I do) 20L planted light fixture revamp (pic heavy)

Ludwigia growing SLOW....shoot I'll send you my Jungle That's by all means no slow growing plant and never has been nor with my old hard water nor with the new softer water not with high lights not on my 30w now; so really they didn't like your old spectrum of colors there.

Ohhh black background defiantly that make ALL fish AND plants stick out sooo much more with their colors!!!!

Let's see some pic's when you're done there please!

Well... I just got the Ludwigia, I was referring to the swords & grasses I've had in there for a while, hehe. :)

They have been showing some new growth, but verrrrryyyyyy ssslllloooowwww. They have had a cpl of tiny spurts following root tabs being put in, but the only one that has been thriving is the one that gets light through the kitchen window in the morning at the east end of the tank.

This is the one I followed: How to retrofit your light for cheap I couldn't find a double fixture like that at my Lowes so I just have 2 individual ones butted up in the middle.

I know I'm crazy I just couldn't decide what to do... till I saw retrofitting my existing plastic hood like this I knew it was what I wanted to do. Not to mention normal daylight CFLs are CHEAP!!!!

Oh, I will take some new pics tomorrow & tomorrow night!

What grass exactly do you have do you know? I just planted a bunch Dwarf Hairgrass uhm in Dec some time; at first it didn't seem to wanna do a lot neither. Then when the roots were settled in it really took off as far as height growth and then it started building runner. That stuff doesn't grow well until after the point where the roots are starting to establish. Also I noticed on Dwarf Hairgrass it grows farrrr better with sand then fine gravel.

Ahhh lucky you not finding double fixture - I want a single one and all I find here is doubles

Really?? My Lowes had so many singles it took me 10 mins just to figure out which ones I wanted to use!!!

I have Kyoto Grass that I got at Petsmart.

On a side note, I have 2 - 10w 6500k CFLs in my 10g, and I already have new growth on my Rotala Indica that I planted Fri nite! :D

The pics ARE still coming...

My son and I ended up getting a 24hr flu and we are both finally better this morning.

Should be able to get some tonight!!

ETA: since I changed out the lighting, the Ludwigia's are showing new growth that fast, & seems like all the swords are perking up a lot! The Val's seem the same.
