Yes..live plants be a good thing!! automatic water treatments...kinda! They take the fishes waste and uses it for its food...so,all good! Just be sure for your first plants that you get some easy ones...Java moss is ok,Amazon sword is good too,just to name a few. You can always ask people here,or at your LFS. Remember that with live plants,you'll have to adjust your lites for live plants!!

Something that hasn't been noted yet...live plants look AWESOME. And they keep growing and flowing, providing my fish with lots of hiding places. They love my java ferns...the shrimp, loaches, danios, snails...pretty much all of them hide in there! My aponogeton ulvaceous flows with the water so beautifully. And yes, I think my tank is healthier due to the live plants. never had a problem with ammonia. Knock on wood.

Well liters would be your gallon - No need to adjust nothing there, just fill the tank up
and lights....as discussed before here what you got will work, so no worries.
