Java Moss ??

Hi there, I just got some Java moss through an online auction and I have managed to attach it to my sunken ship, a piece of rock, and a suspended plant Moss Ball (that all the java mossed fell off of before). I will attach pics soon...

How long will it take for the moss to attach to the objects?

It will start to adhere to surfaces immediately, though it will probably take a couple weeks before you care remove the netting. However, it will attach to the netting too. IME you don't need the netting - just tying or wrapping it around something is enough. I would be concerned about the ball dying - did you cover a ball with it or just ball it up? It looks densely packed, which is not good for the plant.

It can take awhile for Java moss to get settled in before it starts to attach itself sometimes weeks. Also as its been already mentioned it might attach itself to the netting. String or fishing line is usually easier to tie down Java moss and remove it.

superglue works best for me although for you it would mean starting all over again. Get some fishing line for the moss ball

Hey,

Its looking ok, but when I have used java moss I just tied it on with either fishing line, or black cotton. I would spread it out though, looks a bit tightly packed, which is not necessary. It would go a lot further spread out. and once it takes off, it grows fairly fast so it will thicken up on its own.

you might wanna think of adding rcs in there.the java looks very packed up.the leaves on the inside could die off and java is also know to collect a lot of detritus in it.the shrimps are the gardeners for the java moss
