Any tips? I'm was thinking I need to plant them deep, to keep them in place until they root, but then I saw a suggestion on the web they need to be shallow?
I just push the roots and some of the stem down well into the substrate then gently lift the plant until the root crown is right about at the substrate surface.
Sometimes you get vals with short roots....so in this case it's quite dificult to root them. No matter how much you try not to burry the crown, it will float up. If you're having trouble like this, my solution is tie a small piece of rock somewhere near the crown, and let it sink to the bottomm. The roots will naturally root itself over time
That's what I got, tiny little nothing roots! I've got them sitting still right now, but any movement in there and off the go. I'll try tying them to rocks as they come up to put them back down.
Is that bubbling typical of vals? Cool. I've had non-aquatic plants drip water off the end of thier leaves, I guess I shouldn't be too suprised to see it the other way around!
Thanks for chiming in!
