How to induce soft algae???
I know we try to avoid it but I want to know how to actually make the soft forms of algae to grow. Not the hard stuff and not Staghorn or BBA but the stuff that pleco, otos and shrimp actually will eat and thrive on.
I used to grow it in a gallon container on the porch. I'd keep several clear glass jars filled with water and a couple of guppies (to eat bugs). When the jars would go green, I'd scrape the slime off the inside of one jar and feed that. Replace the jar and start over again. Use RO water to avoid chlorine that can slow you down. Add some culture from an established jar.
