What do you think about it? I read that it grows fast, rots fast, and is good for babies and eggs to hide in. However, I just got a new batch of it and lots of leaves started falling off. I will rinse it with tank discard water before I put it in my tank as to not pollute it with many broken off leaves, but will this become problematic over time?
My question is:
Do you like your hornwort? Why or why not?

We have some. A bunch actually. Haven't had it long. Maybe 2 weeks? No problem with leaves falling off yet. From across the room I like the way it looks, but up close it looks like a rat's nest to me. The frogs love it, though. Who am I to argue?
I am curious about how it holds up long-term too. The other half of the household brought it home, and I was wary of putting it in the tank for the same reasons. Hopefully someone who's had more experience with it will have some better info.
I have it in my tank, which i planted a month ago. it is doing great; i've had to trim and transplant it several times so far. It's grown very quickly. I very much like it.
I also have three different types of hygrophila in my tank and I am slowly starting to replace those as well b/c they grow all over the place and look very messy overall. Right now, I've replaced the hornwort with cryptocoryne, hrgrophila with some bacopa caroliana and I think I'd like to get either echinodorus next... if I can't find a tiger lotus first!
I had it once many yrs ago, got rid of it. I don't like how the spiky leaf's mess up my tanks. What I like instead for a fine leaf plant that roots super fast and grows like cray too is Rotala Indica.
Thanks everyone. My tanks are already so messy looking that I don't want to add to it. The only function I can see is to allow babies a place to hide, but they already do that in the roots of my java fern.
@ Haiwkin: Thanks for the link, I'll check it out before I throw it in my pond : ) Also, your tank looks very neat. Mine is, um, a mess (see my photos). I'm not best aquascaper..I just put things where it looks like there's room and it will grow!
