You put the soil in the tank while it is dry- then you moisten the soil, and place the gravel or sand on top, plant the plants, and then fill the aquarium up gently and slowly.

Ok so the tank has been going for 2 days already. The water is still cloudy and I placed carbon pads and regular sponge pads in the filter to help clear up the water. How much longer do you think it will take for the water to clear up?

You have a sponge filter going?
(Or some other good mechanical filtration?)


You need to go ahead and plant it if you haven't already. Is there too much water movement? If so, turn it down.

Don't mess with it too much (beyond planting if you haven't yet) and just give it time.
