Wasnt sure where to post this:
I need samples of cladophora algae (not the balls) I think. I have some green hair algae.
I want to make a plant-less algae tank for a Opae-Ula biotope. They live in volcanic rock pools in hawaii.
Anyone have any tips on encouraging the preferred algae species to grow? (I want diatoms, clado, hair, and some of the other green ones, but dont want cyano to take over)
I'm pretty sure I can't use plants at all, but I might experiment with rooted emersed plants above the water line, and mosses are my backup plan if algae doesnt work.
Anyone have any "nice" algae for trade?
Did anyone have non-cyano algae take over? If so, what did you do to cause it?
