Green stuff on my plant

Hello. I am new to have plants in my aquarium; I have a green spider web like stuff growing on my plant. The plant is dyeing and I think it because the green stuff is blocking the light. Does anyone know what it is or how to get rid of it?

Looks like black brush algae. Do you do any fert dosing? What about your lighting capacity?

I added "0-0-3 Tetra Plant FloraPride" that I got at Petco.
I use an All-Glass Aquarium 17W Rapid-start bulb. It was just the light bulb that came with the Lighting and Cover set I got from Petco to.

Hi there,

What size is the tank? For freshwater plants depending on the types, you can have as little as 1 watt to as much as 4 or 5 watts per gallon of light but you want to make sure that the bulbs are providing the correct intensity of light for the plants. If your using only the stock lamp that came with the tank then I could pretty much bet that its not providing the right light for the plants and instead of your plants thriving the algea is taking over. A good bulb to run for plants is 6700K bulbs this is a full spectrum light that provides a good intensity for the plants.

Is there any algea anywhere else in the tank or is it just on the plants?
