I was just looking @ some plants on ebay I want for my tank because I'm trying to get a better deal off ebay than @ my LFS. This is a Phillipine Java Fern. I think he is offering 40 leaves or something/plants Not sure. I would like you to look over this please and tell me what you think.

Is that $2.50 US per plant? Then it is a good deal. The Java Ferns I've seen here (in Canada) go for $8.99 each..........OUCH! $$$$ (and they don't even look very nice).

this is differnt to the jave fern it is the ropey thin variety not shown in the picture as that is an amano tank so the specimen will not look like the one shown.
Also 80 leaves or what ever the quote is on a thin leave plant such as this will not look at impressive as it sounds, they are £3 a pot here in the uk , compared to £8 a specimen for the normal Javafern.
Hope this helps- i love java, nothing wrong with the original!

When I got mine, they were on sale for $1.75 each and the plants were extremely small, only 3-5 leaves and only up to 2 inches long. A large plant would be a lot easier to scape with and get new growth. Be weary of the ever possible chance of it could "cycle" meaning that it could lose all it's leaves and need to restart.

The only way I know to prevent this is to keep the roots trimmed. I thought I killed mine about 3 weeks ago but it has come back very nicely.
