I'm very interested in adding Frog Bit to my 29 gallon community tank, but I'm concerned that it may block too much light flow to the aquarium and as a result make harm for my other plants which include:
  • Water Sprite
  • Anubias Barteri
  • Java Moss
  • Anacharis
  • Hygro Corymbosa Kompact
  • Dwarf Sag

It is easy enough to maintain a certain coverage with floating plants so that the benefit of the floaters is achieved but sufficient light still reaches the lower plants. In most of my tanks at every weekly water change i remove some of the floaters.

Of course, depending upon the light, any floating plants might cause issues for certain lower plants. Stem plants for instance generally require more light and you may see something here. But until you try, you don't know.
