I was looking at this tank the other day as a new home for my betta, looks like a very good kit. I have heard the co2 system is very expensive to maintain in the long run because fluval is charging an arm and a leg for the refills and they dont last very long, only 3-4 weeks each. Other than that, havent heard much about the filter or substrate and the other stuff the tank comes with..

I think it's ridiculously overpriced...

Other than that, I guess it's ok.

All fluval tanks are overpriced, its like the apple of fishtanks... not necessarily better, but looks awesome and charges a premium.

I wouldn't say that, since apples are genuinely better, and look awesome.

Fluval tanks look awesome, but I could make a mockup of a fluval tank that would look almost the same, and work just as well.

eh, ive been working on computers for a long time and apple computers are NOT better, they're OS operates differently, so for some people that operation style makes apple computers "seem better" or more "intuitive" but in actual specs, they're not that much better. If apple OS was freely available to put onto any computer, building a computer with the exact specs as a apple computer will be at least 20% cheaper than if purchased at apple.

yeah. i think i might just put together a tank similar to it instead. the co2 system is a little iffy and so is the lighting. i do like that the tank is rimless

well rimless tanks hard harder to find, but not impossible. If price isnt a huge issue, look into GLA tanks or ADG tanks. They're for serious aquascapers and their tanks are all rimless with high quality glass. However, they are very expensive.

yeah, I noticed =( sadly seventy bucks for a ten gallon is out of the question. I'm gonna try to scrape a little bit of the silicon off the corners and maybe remove the top rim.

I wouldnt scrape off the silicone, if anything, reseal it yourself. scraping it could cause the seal to weaken too much and break when you fill it. Look for tanks with thicker glass, i think most aquairums use the thinnest glass they can for the tank size and use the rims to help reinforce the glass. Also, the tops may not be finished since they cover it with the frame anyway, you may need to sand it down and polish the edges.
